Natural Science Education at MacArthur Beach State Park is an adventure for the students of Palm Beach County.
Students learn about the coastal ecosystems, how to collect and analyze data; explore the Park as scientists using scientific tools – thermometers, anemometers, soil sifters, binoculars, microscopes, and scales. Students discover, observe, and compare, gaining an understanding of the how living things interact in the natural world.
The Mary and Robert Pew Public Education Fund is providing field experiences for 4th grade students at five schools in the North Palm Beach area; this program gives students two Park experiences, monthly video conferences with Park staff and a weblog to allow for communication between the classes, Park staff, and school district employees.
MacArthur Beach State Park and the School District of Palm Beach County are proud of the successful business partnership, which has increased enrollment in the school programs by over 50%. Both organizations are committed to ensuring that students and their families have
opportunities to learn about the local environment so they may play a role in its preservation in the future.
Education does not stop with our school programs. We have numerous activities for children, families and adults throughout the year to enhance one’s knowledge of the Park.
