Life in the Mangrove
Leni received her B.S. degree in Zoology from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana and her M.S. in Biology from Florida Atlantic University. One of her amazing career accomplishments was as the Founder and Director of the Pine Jog Expeditions: Natural History Study Tours.
Through these programs she traveled to the Galapagos Islands, Kenya and Tanzania, and Peru. She led sailing tours to the Abacos and Bahamas and diving tours to Andros, Bahamas; Bonaire; Roatan; and the Cayman Islands. Leni also served as a Ranger and Director of the Nature Center at MacArthur Beach State Park. She is responsible for the development of the day camps, volunteer program, High School Marine Biology Program, Fourth Grade Program, Snorkeling Program and the first Gift Shop.
She has served on the Board of the Friends of MacArthur Beach State Park since 1993. Leni co-authored two published books: Florida Marine Education Resources Bibliography with Marge Gordon and Life along the Mangrove Shore with Alex Marsh. She currently spends her time with beekeeping, SCUBA diving and biking, but her favorite activity continues to be slogging on the mud flats at MacArthur Beach State Park. Materials list will be provided upion registration.
Join us on Saturday, January 14, 2011 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Natural Science Classroom. The cost is $10 per person for Friends members and $15 for non-members.
